Dear Mom: You’re Doing Better Than You Think

Dear Mom,

Today, you might have felt like you’re behind on everything, even though you spent your whole day caring for your family. The house is still messy, the to-do list is barely finished, and the small mistakes you made keep replaying in your head. You wonder if you’re doing enough. You wonder when you’ll finally be better, like all the moms around you seem to be.

This letter is for you.

Dear Mom: You’re Doing Better Than You Think

Motherhood has a way of magnifying your doubts.

You notice the vegetables you carefully prepared but your child refused to eat. You think about the activity you didn’t finish setting up, so screen time felt like the easier choice. You try to hold on to your patience, but you snap when your child almost touches the socket.

And somehow, your mind keeps a record of these moments, while quietly overlooking all the things you did right that same day.

But the magic of motherhood lies in the ordinary moments.

You prepared the food with care. You started to set up the activity with good intentions. You tried to be patient. The outcome may not have followed your plan, but that is not failure. It is simply being human.

So Mom, forgive yourself. Your impact isn’t erased by what didn’t work out. It’s built in what you consistently do.

You woke up even though you were tired. You tried, and when something didn’t go well, you tried again. You show love in small, steady ways every single day.

All of that counts.

Motherhood does not demand perfection.

Your children love and admire you for who you are, not for how perfectly you do everything. They need your presence. They need your consistency. They need to know that when they fall, someone will help them up. When they are scared, someone will hold them. When they are excited, someone will listen.

And you are there.

Motherhood isn’t about getting everything right. It’s about showing up with love, again and again. Even when you’re unsure. Even when you’re tired. Even when you think you’ve fallen short.

You are exactly what your child needs.
