How Much Should You Prepare for Your Baby’s Vaccines?

Back when we were just planning to get pregnant, my husband and I just had a general idea of how having a child would affect our finances. Our thoughts were consumed by what a baby’s immediate needs are, like milk, clothes, and diapers. I have to admit that vaccines were the last thing on my mind, partly because I thought my HMO covered those.

We were given a reality check during our daughter’s first pedia check up. We learned that the HMO only covered doctor’s fees, and that is if they’re part of the HMO’s accredited list. We also learned that during a baby’s first year, vaccines are administered monthly–and that they are costly!

Here’s an updated list of baby vaccines for 2025 for your reference.

Now that our daughter is a preschooler, we feel like we’re already vaxx graduates. Our pockets have recovered since now we just go back for boosters that need to be administered every few months.

As help for new parents, I’ve my daughter’s pedia for updated vaccine rates in the metro. Please note that these rates may differ depending on the doctor and your location.

For reference, I also asked a pedia friend about the vaccine rates in the province and I noticed the substantial difference between the costs, where the ones in the province are much cheaper. For example, there’s a 500-peso difference with 6-in-1, PCV 13, and Rotavirus vaccines, and an 800-peso difference with Japanese Encephalitis and Varicella vaccines.

Some cost the same, such as Meningococcal vaccine, while some are significantly lower in the province: Flu vaccine only costs ₱1,500 and MMR only costs ₱1,500.
