It's not age restricted.

Leandro, a young professional who’s been into sports since he was 10, got hooked on pickleball just by reading about it! As someone who plays badminton, tennis, and table tennis, Leandro says that pickleball is “like table tennis but instead of using a table, it uses the ground. It’s also similar to badminton because of the underhand serve and overhead shots. And I can compare it with tennis because of the volleys.”

He only had one problem though – he had no one to play against.

When he finally found one and scheduled their first game, he was surprised to see “people of all ages” – from teens to 70s – enjoying the game! It also just took him a few times before he was able to claim he actually loved pickleball.

So if you feel like your age won’t qualify you for the game, here’s Leandro reminding you again that “age is just a number.”

It's not physically demanding.

For a sports enthusiast like Leandro, staying active is a must; but with his duties at home and at work, he greatly appreciates pickleball’s “slower pace.”

“I can play pickleball without doing so many weights. Pickleball, compared to any other sports, is not physically demanding. I can still go to work on weekdays and play pickleball on a weekend without hurting myself after,” he shares.

If this doesn’t convince you yet, take it from Ali – a wife, mom of one, and a school librarian who started playing pickleball at 14 months postpartum! She initially got curious about the sport because it was becoming popular on social media. It was her sister who introduced her to pickleball, and according to her, “It’s definitely worth the sweat!”

If Leandro and Ali, who both have full time jobs, can play and enjoy pickleball – why can’t this be the sport for you, too?

It can be played almost anywhere!

Mommy Ali shares that she likes pickleball for its good balance of challenge and accessibility. According to her, “It is a beginner-friendly sport, which makes it enjoyable even you’re just starting out. Moreover, it provides a good workout that helps me relieve stress.”

While pickleball meets and matches in village clubhouses and sports centers are in, according to Keystone Sports Construction, you can gather your family and friends to play in any “concrete, asphalt, or rubber gym flooring.”

Guess where Mommy Ali usually plays – at the school gym, which she claims as one of the “perks of being a school employee.”

It's much cheaper compared to other racket sports.

For Leandro, since “pickleballs and paddles last longer,” it is much cheaper compared to other racket sports. Mommy Ali echoes this, and adds that she loves the convenience of being able to buy paddles and balls online.

Aside from its affordability, there’s so much more that Leandro and Mommy Ali shared about the game.

As a lover of sports, Leandro challenges you to learn “the biggest skill needed in pickleball, especially in doubles: dinking.” According to him, dinking is all about “touch and strategies.”

Mommy Ali says that hitting the ball is a great sensory experience, too! You definitely need to feel and listen to the “satisfying sound when the ball hits the paddle.”

Both of them definitely recommend the sport for moms and dads, and even to young children!

So, are you ready to have your first pickleball match soon?
