“I’m Trying”: How Bea Fabregas’ Viral Dance Video is a Timeless Reminder for Moms

You know what moms want – everything in tip-top condition and every detail ironed out. You’re also guilty of this, Mama, and it’s hard for you to admit otherwise.

But it’s not the case for Mommy Bea Fabregas.

In her recent dance video with her sister Nica (now with 6 million views on Instagram!), she shows her vulnerable side as she fails really hard in getting the steps right for Pinoy Pop group Bini’s hit “Salamin, Salamin.”

Here are the timeless reminders the viral video sends out for all of us moms:

It’s okay to not be good at something…

As moms, we’re wired to be on top of everything home, parenting, fashion, and self-care. We strive to be always put together because our little ones closely observe us, and we know we should model the attitudes and behaviors we teach them everyday.

However, allowing them to see our missteps do not equate to us failing parenting altogether. In fact, it establishes that we can’t be 100% good at 100% of the time, and this is completely okay.

Remember how Mommy Bea admitted to getting stressed learning the steps? It’s all of us moms in our daily struggles.

But let’s all take note: Mommy Bea kept dancing anyway!

…for as long as you keep trying.

The best way to teach our kids that failing is a powerful experience is to show them we never give up trying.

When we try, we may repeatedly fail, but it opens another opportunity for us to start again.

We’ve got to admit that the “Salamin, Salamin” dance steps are quite difficult, but we’ve got to hand it to Mommy Bea for powering through!

Face stressful times with a good laugh!

Admit it: we also have Mommy Bea’s iyak-tawa moment one too many times, right?

Her hearty laughter was a laughter familiar to us, too – a sound that is borderline, “I don’t know what I’m doing” and “I’m going to do it still!” Mommy Bea reminds us that finding humor in a stressful situation is a coping skill moms need to learn.

So let’s not be too hard on ourselves, Mamas! Our challenges aren’t best solved with a sullen face.

Value your support system.

In the video, you’ll find Mommy Bea’s sister Nica not only patiently teaching her the dance steps, but also comforting and encouraging her – a reminder for us moms that someone always sees us go through our struggles, and we have to willingly accept help they offer.

We don’t have to go through things alone. We all need someone like Nica to remind us to “Wait” and “Focus.”

Nica’s words and gestures are not nothing, as her bubbly presence pushes Bea to keep moving.

We hope Mommy Bea’s video serves as your reminder to keep dancing – whatever this means for you, Mama!
