6 Things Babies Want to Tell Their Mamas

We know babies don’t say their first word until they’re close to a year old—and even then it might just be adorable, senseless mumbles and babbling. But wouldn’t it be great to know what thoughts are going through their tiny brains at such a young age? What words would they speak? Would they ask mama for more milk? Would they try and negotiate for later bedtime? What would they really want to say to their mama? We may never know for sure, but we thought it would be fun to try and imagine the thoughts behind every baa, daa, and maa. Keep reading for some of the things we think your baby would like you to know, mama!

6 Things Babies Want to Tell Their Mamas

You're my favorite person in the whole world!

You took care of my every need for 9 whole months and now that I can finally see you with my own eyes, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for taking special care of yourself and making sure I would grow well. Thank you for keeping me company and keeping me close to you as I entered this new, unfamiliar world. Thank you for tending to my every need and always finding was to make me smile.  Nobody loves me like you do and I hope you know I feel the same way about you.

You know me better than anyone.

When I’m hungry, you give me my milk. When I’m sleepy, you put me down to bed. When I’m scared, you hold me close and give me comfort. There are times it takes a little longer to figure out exactly what I need, but you always find a way. That’s why I’m always looking for you, mama. I trust you completely.

I'm crying, but that doesn't mean I don't love you.

I’m sorry if I keep crying, I know it can get a little frustrating at times. It’s not because I’m angry with you, okay? I could never be angry with you. It’s usually because I need something or I feel uncomfortable. I just can’t seem to figure it out on my own sometimes, and crying always seems to get your attention. I wish I could talk like you and dada do, but I can’t just yet. I will try my best and learn to use words like you do soon.

When you feel alone, remember that I'm here too.

Whenever it’s a little too overwhelming for you, I’ll try my best to comfort you too. Let’s get through this new chapter together. We can be each other’s why. We can make mistakes together. We can learn from each other. There may be days when you feels like you’re alone in this, but I am here too. You can kiss me all you want and squish me all you want, I won’t complain. I just want to be here for you when you need me.

I promise I won't always need you like this.

I can see that there are days you’re more tired than others. I don’t know why I’m afraid of going to the doctor’s office or why it’s harder fo me to sleep on my own sometimes. Thank you for being patient with me, mama. One day I’ll be bigger and braver and I’ll be more independent. You’ll be so proud of me! But until then, can you hold me a little longer? I always feel better when I’m close to you.

Have I told you today that I love you?

Sometimes I say I love you by smiling at you and giving you wet kisses, and sometimes I say it by crying when you pass me to somebody else. I can’t say the exact words yet, so I try to show you in my own way just how much I love you. It’s a whole lot, mama. Yours is the face I look forward to seeing every morning and the one that soothes me when I have trouble sleeping at night. I love you so much more than all the bedtime stories and bottles of milk combined.
