Here’s How Cristalle Belo-Pitt Balances Being A Mom and A Wife

We all know Cristalle Belo-Pitt as the managing director of The Belo Group. But today, we learn more about Cristalle Belo-Pitt not only as a businesswoman but a wife and a mother as well. She shares her experience, struggles, and favorite moments running three jobs: running Belo, Hunter’s mother, and Justin’s partner.

Here's How Cristalle Belo-Pitt Balances Being A Mom and A Wife

How do you balance working and being a mom?

Running your own business and taking care of kids is no easy task. Cristalle Belo-Pitt tells us how she built Intelligent Skin Care, Inc., the company behind Belo Essentials, to be extremely equipped to run its own, giving her time to focus on her husband and Hunter. Since she only lives 15-20 minutes away, this gives her time to sneak out of the house, attend meetings, and run back home whenever she needs to. Being a working mom, what is the most important to her?

There are three reasons why sleep is important for me. First, Gabrielle of @babysleep.ph allows me to fix mine and Hunter's schedule daily. Secondly, respecting his sleep allows him to emotionally cope with his day. Third, having a solid sleep and activity schedule allows Hunter to be more independent.

Your baby’s sleeping pattern doesn’t always coincide with yours. What is her schedule like? She shares how Hunter sleeps 12 hours straight, wakes up at 7:30am, has one activity in the morning, and a nap from 1-3pm with free play outdoors in the afternoon. Hunter’s bedtime is fixed at 7:30pm, enabling her to plan her day better. With Hunter’s schedule and hers, she schedules meetings during his naps or activities. Have we also mentioned that they have no live in nanny? Mommy Cristalle is the first person Hunter sees in the morning and the last person he sees before he goes to bed! At night, both Mommy and Daddy read him books and tuck him in.

Did you have any expectations as a mom?

There are many things moms expect and this can be quite unattainable because of the pressure they put in themselves in raising the perfect kid. A year after college, Cristalle was a preschool teacher. Working as a preschool teacher, she learned that every child is different and every parent will have a different journey raising a child.

I didn't really want to have expectations on being a mom. What surprised me is how amazing Justin is as a partner and dad. He is more knowledgeable in certain aspects- like health and food! He's involved in every step of the way in raising Hunter.

In a relationship, there will come disagreements and they can be quite irritable. Who’s going to change the diapers? Who puts the baby to sleep at night? But not for this couple! Cristalle and Justin have great relationship and partnership as they are on the same page in raising their kids. Both Cristalle and Justin respect and listen to what the other has to say.

How do you balance being a mom and a wife?

Justin and I spend lots of time together - with or without Hunter. After we put Hunter down at 7:30pm, Justin cooks, we eat then watch our favorite TV shows together.

There is something really special about travelling together, alone, as a married couple. A lot of couples suggest that you should start travelling before getting married and having kids. But this does not stop Cristalle and Justin! This couple make it a point to travel together without Hunter. Cristalle and Justin’s relationship was built on adventure! They’ve lived in different countries and traveled to see each other hence traveling is always something they cherish. She mentions that it’s like going on little honeymoons three times a year. Their last escape was in Japan for his birthday last December. They watched U2 and ate their way through Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto.

Best part of being Hunter's mother?

It's definitely an honor to be Hunter's mother. In my life, I don't think I have had this much power - the power to directly influence a human being's life. It's actually scary, fun and challenging all at the same time.

Hunter is a sweet and happy little boy. She believes that he makes the home so vibrant and alive. For her, every moment is a moment of wonder and exploration. Cristalle allows Hunter to play and explore freely (even if he breaks things) just as long as he doesn’t hurt himself, others or the environment. At 18 months, Hunter is still trying to figure out this world around him. And because of that, she feels like she’s seeing and discovering some things for the first time.

Share us your favorite moments with Hunter

There are gazillion moments I can list but one thing is for sure, I really enjoyed those moments when I was breastfeeding Hunter. I was able to do it for 10 months and pumped enough to reach 12 months.

Born at 33 weeks, Hunter needed Cristalle. However, this is what she loved doing – nourishing him, connecting with him, and expressing her love in such a unique way.

Do you have any tips for moms and incoming moms?

Cristalle mentions that she was fortunate enough to listen to Kristin Mariella (@respectfulmom). Kristin Mariella came to Manila and gave a talk to her and a select group of moms. She says she learned so much from her about respectful parenting.

I realized that parenting is not something that we are taught in school yet it is the biggest responsibility in our life - imagine having such influence on human beings that will outlive you. I encourage moms out there to seek information and self educate! Find the method that resonates with you.

For Cristalle, it’s RIE and Montessori methods. She listens to podcasts and YouTube videos as well. A big influence is Janet Lansbury.
