The best way to approach motherhood is with humility and gratefulness. When these tenets guide your actions and decisions (both the big and small), you will see your children, family, and whole life in a whole new light.

Time with your kids is very important. Notice how little kids only want to be with mom at all times? It’s their greatest joy and we often overlook this. Make each moment count. Build memories, take lots of photos, and live each day to the fullest with them. Teach them to love God and live to honor Him.

During particularly rough, tough, and challenging days, I just think to myself, “All other mothers in the world were able to do it, so I should, too.”

In all things that concern your children, always come from a place of love. If you love them, you will do what is best for them–whether its to discipline them, to guide them when they need to make decisions, to explain why the world can be awful and beautiful at the same time, and to expand their knowledge on life, love, and Jesus. Also remember to create amazing memories and start your own little family traditions!

Be forgiving of yourself. You don’t need to be THE PERFECT mom. We make mistakes and that’s ok. Don’t beat yourself up for it. Motherhood is a journey where we all learn a thing or two along the way. What’s important is that in the eyes of your child you are his/her perfect mom and that they know and feel in their heart that you are trying your very best.

The biggest challenge of running my own business is how to balance my time with family. You will never feel successful in your business if you are not successful at home. At first you will feel guilty. But it’s okay that you are a working mom. You have to be the example you want your children to be. Doing well in your business not only helps support your family, it inspires other people and sets the best example for your children–you show them how to excel and the value of hard work.

Chill. My son Benjamin told me one morning that the word for the day is CHILL. I try to keep that in mind because the start of the day is crucial, as it sets the pace for how the rest of the day will be. When I remember Benj’s advice to CHILL, I allow myself to breathe, relax, and trust that the Lord will take care of the rest of the day.
