Why Caring for Pets are Great for Your Kids!

There’s a special kind of bond between the little ones and their pets — whether dogs, cats, or fish. Pets are part of the family, too. Before your babies came along, you might have been a fur Mom or fur Dad first! But apart from being adorable companions, and being as close to your heart as any family member could be, pets can also teach your kids a lot of things like how to care for others, how to be responsible, and how to have empathy. So, we’re sharing four reasons why we think furry friends are great influences for your kids based on what we’ve seen among celebrity families and their own pets!

Learning How to Be Caring and Responsible
Pets can help your kids develop the ability to care for others. Pets breathe, eat, sleep, and love like humans, after all. The way you treat your pets also serves as an example for your kids on how to care and look after others. Just look at this precious bond between Tili Bolzico and Pochola! It’s adorable how Tili smothers Pochola with hugs. And how precious is this video of them where Pochola gives Tili her paw? Since Tili is going to be an Ate soon, we think having Pochola around helps her train to be a good sibling! Wouldn’t you agree?

Having Instant Siblings
Momma-to-be Bianca King recently announced her pregnancy, and we couldn’t be happier! On Instagram, Bianca also wrote that her fur baby, Willow, is about to be a big sister. How cute is that? Bianca’s little one will instantly have a sibling and best friend to grow up with. Dogs are known to be loyal and they make the best playmates! They can also act like your kid’s protectors along with you as well as provide comfort and emotional support when your kids need it.

Experiencing Positive Relationships
Pets are truly part of the family, and they can even offer a way for kids and parents to bond. Let’s have a throwback to how Kryz Uy’s son Scottie plays with their pup, Skybear! In this video, you’ll see them riding Scottie’s forklift together, on the way to Mommy Kryz. Though she couldn’t finish washing her face, it’s still a pleasant surprise to be visited by her two babies! Playing with your pets can also become quality time as a family — walking the dog together, feeding time, or simply goofing off around the house.

Practicing How to Communicate
Although pets can’t exactly talk back like how a human would, kids can still practice their communication skills with their furry friends. They can read stories to their pets, talk about how they feel or what their day was like all without judgment from their furry listener. Just like this little exchange between Coleen Garcia’s son, Amari, and her chihuahua, Tamomo. It was surely a priceless moment caught on camera when Amari said Tamomo’s name!
